The ‘Selling the City’ star and New York City realtor is addressing speculation about the nature of her relationship with the indicted politician
Eleonora Srugo is setting the record straight about her relationship with New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
The star of Netflix’s new real estate docusoap “Selling the City” shared a statement with PEOPLE after rumors swirled that she might be dating the politician, who is currently facing indictment amid accusations of bribery and other financial crimes.
“There is no truth to rumors that I am dating Mayor Eric Adams,” Srugo told PEOPLE. “This has always been a platonic friendship.”
A representative for the reality star added, “These rumors are absolutely not true. Eleonora and the mayor have been friends for years. They have never dated and nor does she have any plans to.”
Srugo spoke about the speculation on her relationship with the mayor in an article published by Netflix in December that claimed they’d been popping up for “the past few years.”
“If people cannot justify a woman’s success — whether it’s by having connections, wealthy parents, or who your husband is — then there is certainly a default to try to talk about her behavior,” she said. “There’s a belittling that happens with women in business, and it’s a constant struggle and fight to work against those narratives.”
Even earlier, she posted about Adams on her Instagram during his campaign for mayor in a show of support, thanking him for showing an interest in school programs she also supports. “He knows first hand what it means to create your own destiny in this city. . . His vision is to multiply the programs and schools that work,” she wrote.
More recently, in May 2023, Adams name checked Srugo during an event for Jewish Heritage Month, Distractify reports.
The following month, Srugo posted photos of herself marching with Adams during a demonstration in New York and carrying a sign that reads “Mayor Eric Adams Celebrates Israel.”
She captioned the photos, “I choose everyday [sic] to be American. The best country in the world! But being Jewish? That chose me. Thank you to @nycmayor for being supportive of the Jewish people, Israel, faith practices and me! We need to have his back.”
Adams, who began his term in January 2022, was indicted amid a federal corruption investigation in September 2024. He is the first New York City mayor to face an indictment while in office.
The New York Times broke the news, which came after months of federal investigations and the resignations of high-ranking members of his administration.
Srugo is currently starring in Selling the City, a new spinoff from Netflix’s hit Selling Sunset. It premiered on Jan. 3, and follows her “no-nonsense, kicka–” agents as they pave their way in the high-stakes world of N.Y.C. real estate, per the streaming service.
Srugo is the show’s ring leader and a power player in Manhattan real estate. She made Douglas Elliman’s top NYC sale of the year (for $75 million) in 2024 and was their number one ranked agent in 2023.
Asked to compare her show to Selling Sunset, she said, “This is a little different. We’re a little grittier, and a woman is leading the team. The city also takes everything to another level. There’s a really high barrier to entry in this market, and it makes it extraordinarily competitive.”
