“Our relationship is probably a lot like everyone else’s. We just have to figure out how to do some of it in public,” the tech investor said
Lady Gaga and her fiancé Michael Polansky are focusing on normalcy in their life together.
As part of Gaga’s interview as ELLE‘s February cover star, the tech investor revealed what their relationship is like in the public eye and how they’re finding quiet moments when they can.
“Accepting that you won’t have the privacy others might have was the hardest part,” Polansky told the publication. “But Stefani’s comfort with it and patience with me has been amazing.” [Gaga’s real name is Stefani Germanotta.]
“Our relationship is probably a lot like everyone else’s. We just have to figure out how to do some of it in public. That makes it even more important for us to have strong friendships and close family relationships. We find normalcy where we can.”
Some of these comforting activities include making pasta and roasting food. “We also really like making simple dishes with Michael’s mom, who lives nearby,” Gaga, 38, noted.
She also noted that she considers the moments with Polansky, her friends and dogs “everyday poetry” as much as performing can be.
The singer went Instagram official with Polansky following the 2020 Super Bowl and got engaged in early 2024 but kept the news private for months, as per an insider. The couple eventually made their red carpet debut in September 2024 at the Venice Film Festival.
“They’re great together. He’s excited and supportive of her career,” the source said in July 2024.”He can’t stand being in the spotlight, but lets her shine. He has his own business priorities that she’s supportive of.”
In the ELLE interview, Gaga shared that Polansky helped write seven songs from her upcoming album Mayhem.
“This album was so much fun to watch her make,” Polansky said. ‘She recorded it right down the street from our house, so we could easily walk back and forth from the studio. I spent a lot of time with her, bringing my laptop to work while she was there.”
Meanwhile, Gaga had an endearing anecdote from early on in their relationship. “He used to say to me when we first met, ‘You are a special human being when the cameras aren’t on you. And I get to see that all the time,’ ” the “Disease” singer said.
In September 2024, Gaga gushed to PEOPLE about Polansky. “I just love my fiancé so much,” she said at the time.
“He’s my best friend. He’s my partner, and I just feel like when you are with your best friend, everything changes.”
