Ant Anstead Says Ex Wife Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa Can’t Stop ‘Flirting with Each Other’

Ant Anstead is calling it as he sees it on tonight’s all-new episode of The Flip Off!

The British automotive expert and TV host takes on the role of guest judge in episode 4 of the HGTV series starring his ex-wife Christina Haack, her first ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and Tarek’s current wife Heather El Moussa.

In the PEOPLE exclusive clip above, Christina’s playful banter with one ex, sparks an interesting observation from the other.

Just before Anstead announces the winner of this week’s guest bedroom design challenge, the Born Mechanic host is seated outside with the show’s three stars at Christina’s Newport Beach, Calif. home. Christina asks Tarek, “So were you bothering him or what?” referring to Anstead.

Tarek then shoots back with a smirk, “Your presence just being around him is bothering him,” to which Christina responds, “No, he’s fine.”

Heather then jumps in, motioning between Anstead and Christina, and asking, “I have a question. How is this situation?” (Anstead and Christina only recently reconciled after years of tension following their divorce.)

Anstead dodges Heather’s question, looking instead at Christina and Tarek and commenting, “Once you guys stop flirting with each other, let’s get into it. Cause we’re here to do a job.”

Tarek tries to defend himself: “I’m just an innocent victim. I just sit here and she abuses me.”

Agreeing with his ex-wife’s first husband, Anstead jokes back, “We are both innocent victims.”

Tarek then quips, “We should get all of us together and start a boy band,” seemingly including Christina’s third husband, Josh Hall, from whom she split in July 2024.

While they all start laughing, Anstead takes the joke one step further and tells the two again to “stop flirting,” prompting Heather to give him a warning.

Clearly over hearing about her husband flirting with his ex wife, Heather points a finger directly at the Radford Reborn host and says, “Ant, now you’re really going to be in trouble if you keep using that word.”

Anstead and Christina were married from December 2018 until September 2020. After their split, they became entangled in a heated custody battle involving their son Hudson, now 5, that was finally settled in December 2022.

Christina also shares two children — daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 9 — with Tarek. Tarek and Heather share a son, Tristan, 2.

During the Feb. 19 episode, Christina reveals that while their son’s wellbeing was a major factor in her decision to reconcile with her second husband, it was also Anstead’s unexpected reaction to her divorce from Hall that made her reevaluate their relationship.

“After Josh and I split up, I went over to [Ant’s] house to pick Hudson up,” Christina says earlier in the episode. “And when I walked up to the door, he gave me a huge hug. We hadn’t hugged in years.”

She continues, “He just said ‘I’m so sorry for everything you’re going through and I’m here for you no matter what you need.’ It was a very nice moment. We had a long talk after and we decided to put all the BS aside and be good co-parents, like Tarek and I, for Hudson.”

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in January, Heather and Tarek revealed how Anstead’s appearance on the house flipping showdown really threw them off because they weren’t aware he and Christina were even on speaking terms.

“[Christina] started following [Ant] on Instagram and we were like, ‘What? What’s going on?’ It really was like that for us,” Heather told PEOPLE. “You see it transpire on TV and we’re so thrown off by the situation. I think we texted her, ‘Why are you following Ant? What’s going on?’”

Christina then noted how some of the judges she picked were just to “mess with” Tarek. “It worked,” she added.
