Meghan Markle is on the move in the morning with Prince Harry, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Duchess of Sussex opened up about the ritual to start her day in her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, which premiered on March 4. The second episode of the lifestyle show followed Meghan, 43, meeting up with Mindy Kaling and making breakfast before Kaling arrived.
“I wake up every morning and take a lot of pride in making breakfast for my family…mornings are fast. Gotta get the kids to school,” the Duchess of Sussex said.
Meghan and Prince Harry, 40, share son Prince Archie, 5, and daughter, Princess Lilibet, 3, who they are raising outside of the spotlight in Montecito, California. Meghan has a well-known passion for cooking and reportedly slipped out of an event over the summer to “make dinner for the kids.”
The Duchess of Sussex was busy in the kitchen in the second episode of With Love, Meghan, and she whipped up an egg breakfast for herself and her director, who was off-screen. She cracked a joke while cooking the bacon and said the scent “brings my husband and three dogs to the kitchen, not my perfume” and sang, “My bacon brings all the boys to the yard” in a riff of Kelis’ 2003 hit “Milkshake.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Meghan spoke about how Harry likes to flavor his food while making lunch for herself and Kaling.
“Harry likes it salty and puts salt on everything she makes before even tasting it,” the Duchess of Sussex said.

Kaling, 45, explained that she and Meghan have been “email pen pals” since she appeared on the Duchess of Sussex’s Archetypes podcast in September 2022, and they continue to bond about motherhood. The actress, writer and comedian is mom to three young children: Katherine “Kit,” Spencer and Anne.
“I love having mom friends, we need them,” Meghan said in the show.
The Duchess of Sussex and Kaling also prepared a kid-friendly snack in the episode: tomato and cheese toasts that look like ladybugs. The pair later headed into the backyard for a garden tea party.

In an exclusive interview for PEOPLE’s latest cover story, the Duchess of Sussex shares more about her family’s mornings in Montecito.
“I’m up before my kids are, so I’m normally up at 6:30, and then I get them up and dressed for the day, and we go downstairs. I love making breakfast for my family,” she explains, adding that their favorite is “surprise” pancakes.
“They don’t know what’s going to be on the other side when it flips over,” says Meghan, who picks from rainbow sprinkles, chocolate chips or blueberries in the shape of a smiley face.

“Of course, they love [toast with] jam and fresh fruit preserves because they were such a part of me making them and picking all that fruit during berry season for all of our canning,” she says. “My husband and Archie both love fried eggs. There’s a lot of bacon around here. And then sometimes you don’t have time for all that, and you just put a frozen waffle in the toaster and call it a day. And there’s no shame in that either.”
