Lady Gaga brought Mayhem to Saturday Night Live!
The pop star, 38, served double duty as the host and the musical guest on the March 7 episode of the late-night comedy sketch series.
For her first performance of the evening, Gaga performed “Abracadabra” off of her recently released seventh studio album, wearing a replica of an outfit she sported in the music video for the song.
Later in the show, Gaga returned to the stage to sing “Killah” as she put on an electrifying and colorful set.
Gaga released her latest LP Mayhem on March 7, a day before her SNL gig. She previously announced that she would be releasing the project on Jan. 27.
Mayhem features 14 tracks, including the previously released songs “Disease” and “Abracadabra,” as well as “Die with a Smile,” her Grammy Award-winning song with Bruno Mars.
Gaga said that Mayhem is about returning to her roots in a new way. “The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” she explained in a press release.
The star added that her new album’s style is akin to “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
