“I’m really sorry about that, so I apologize again,” Cohen said in regards to calling Montag “trash” in 2011
Andy Cohen is apologizing to The Hills alumni Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag.
Cohen issued an apology to the married couple during the Wednesday, Jan. 29 live episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live. During the broadcast, the Bravo mogul, 56, acknowledged Pratt’s recent remarks about Cohen calling Montag, 38, “trash” in 2011. In Wednesday’s episode, he apologized and said his comment was “mean.”
On Saturday, Jan. 25, Pratt, 41, declined fans’ suggestions that Montag should join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
When one social media user asked if he and Montag would ever appear on Cohen’s talk show, Watch What Happens Live, Pratt replied in a different post: “the person who said he would rather scratch his eyes out then watch my wife … hard pass.”
Then another user said the pair would be “lucky” to be on the late-night show; however, Pratt quipped back once more.
“lol yah so lucky the guy that bashes my wife gonna be so lucky to sit with him. Rather sit in my burned house rubble,” he wrote, referencing how he lost his home in the Los Angeles wildfires.
Pratt was referring to Cohen’s 2011 comments about his wife joining RHOBH during an episode of WWHL. At the time, Cohen called The Hills alum “trash” and claimed, “I would sooner stab knives into my own eyes than see her on this network.” A few days later, he apologized for the “tasteless” jab.
In September 2023, Montag addressed Cohen’s remarks and said that he was “so wrong” and that she “could easily go on Orange County or Beverly Hills.”
At the time, Cohen apologized and clarified, “[Montag and Pratt] are so identified, not only with another show but with another network.”
Meanwhile, during his Wednesday radio show, he referenced the previous 2023 comment, saying he “did apologize for this on Andy Cohen Live several years ago.”
“I apologized, so what I will say also is that was mean,” Cohen said. “That was 14 years ago, and what I really don’t like about it is referring to her as trash.” Adding, “I don’t like that at all and I’m really sorry about that, so I apologize again, I guess.”
“By the way, there were things that we said and did on TV 14 years ago that we wouldn’t do now,” Cohen said. “It just was a different universe but that’s not, I’m not trying to justify it.”
Meanwhile, Pratt told TMZ on Wednesday that Cohen’s apology won’t suffice until Cohen decides to “reach out privately.” Pratt also proposed that Cohen post a video dancing to Montag’s No. 1 hit song, “I’ll Do It.”
Montag’s Superficial single resurged after the Palisades fire destroyed their home. Pratt had asked fans to stream Superficial and help them raise money to rebuild their home.
