Ben Affleck Is ‘Casually Dating’ as He and Jennifer Lopez Are Declared Legally Single

Ben Affleck is looking to return to the dating scene.

Since Affleck and ex-wife Jennifer Lopez settled their divorce on Jan. 6, a source exclusively tells PEOPLE, “Ben’s casually dating.”

“This doesn’t seem to be a focus though,” the insider adds.

The source says that the Oscar winner is “very focused on work,” adding, “If he’s not filming, he spends long days at his office.”

The source says the 52-year-old actor also spends “a lot of time” with his and Jennifer Garner’s children: Violet Anne, 19, Seraphina Rose, 16, and Samuel, 12. Noting that Affleck spends “a lot of time” with his youngest child, Samuel.

“They are very close,” the source says.

The news of Affleck casually dating follows the Los Angeles County Superior Court declaration on Friday, Feb. 21, that his and Lopez’s marriage is dissolved, and the pair are legally single, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

The former couple rekindled their romance in 2021 — after they called off their first engagement in January 2004. In July 2022, they married in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony, and the next month, they celebrated their nuptials with a ceremony in Georgia.

Exactly two years after the Georgia ceremony, Lopez, 55, filed for divorce on Aug. 20, 2024. She listed April 26, 2024, as the couple’s date of separation and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

The Atlas star filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court without a lawyer, requesting no spousal support for either party and for attorneys’ fees to be split. She also requested that her former name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez, be restored.

Affleck and Lopez will share the profit they obtain from their Beverly Hills, Calif. mansion once it sells, per documents obtained by PEOPLE on Jan. 29.

As Affleck remains focused on work, his latest project, The Accountant 2, is preparing for its upcoming release. The sequel to his 2016 action-thriller The Accountant will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on March 8 and hit theaters on April 25. Affleck will reprise his role as Christian Wolff and Jon Bernthal as his brother Brax.

Affleck also recently teased his action-packed thriller RIP at the 2025 Next on Netflix Special Presentation in L.A. on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

He compared the upcoming film to a mix of Heat, Narc and Training Day. “This movie takes a look at the things people will do for money,” Affleck said. The movie, which reunites him with Matt Damon, will be on Netflix later this year.
