The boxing match purists are pretending not to be interested in has almost arrived as Mike Tyson is finally set to take on Jake Paul.
Netflix will be hosting the fight, which takes place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas this evening (15 November).
While some fans clearly don’t like the idea of an elderly boxing legend, 58, going up against a much younger YouTuber in Paul, 27, millions around the world will be tuning in to see what happens.

If, as a Netflix user, you do plan on watching, isn’t it nice not having to pay an extra pay-per-view fee?
But to make the most out of your monthly subscription, it’s worth being aware of the streaming service’s ‘secret’ feature that will help improve the picture of your 4K resolution TV.
Assuming you have one, that is, along with Netflix’s Premium tier which allows you to watch programmes and films in 4K.
A Netflix spokesperson confirmed to TV Answer Man that the fight will be broadcast in 4K for Netflix premium subscribers.
To be sure that you have the best picture quality possible – and what the producers intended for you to see – you’ll need to do the following settings.
As reported by Tech Radar, you can’t just enter ‘Test Patterns’ into the search box on the Netflix menu. The process is a little more fiddly.

How to use Netflix’s picture test patterns
- Sign into Netflix on your computer
- Type in https://www.netflix.com/title/80018499 into the search bar of your web browser
- Add the Multipurpose Chart 1920 x 1080: 60fps test pattern (S2: Episode 8) to your Netflix library by clicking on the Add To My List (+) button
- Open the Netflix app on your TV
- Select the Multipurpose Chart 1920 x 1080: 60fps test pattern in the My List section
- Make picture adjustments
There’s a way to improve your picture quality (Netflix)
To make picture adjustments, you select the colour control section where you can manage adjust red, white, green and blue colour gradients ‘until there is clear definition between the darker centre and brighter surrounding squares in the colour patches’.
The tech outlet says you can adjust the sharpness level in the resolution bars that look a little like the old rulers you used to use in school.
If the numbers are a bit blurry, you can adjust them to make them sharper, which will reflect when you’re watching the fight. If your settings are too sharp, the numbers might be surrounded in white.
“This is basically video noise that isn’t doing anything to add detail to your TV’s picture and should be removed,” they added.
Now your TV is all set up, the undercard for Mike Tyson v Jake Paul is set to take place around 1am our time.
The main event is thought to begin around 4am.

Someone has actually bought that $2million (£1.6million) ticket for the Jake Paul v Mike Tyson fight.
Yep, ahead of the big face-off tomorrow (15 November) night – well, the early hours of Saturday morning for us UK lot – a special VIP ticket has apparently been sold.
The big boxing event is of course getting live streamed on Netflix, with subscribers being able to watch it without paying an additional PPV fee.
But plenty of people are still heading out to watch in person as Paul faces Tyson at the 60,000 capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
And that now seems to include someone whose splashed the millions on this top-end ticket that includes six seats.
What’s included in the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul VIP package?
The package comes with a special pre-fight locker room visit plus a unrivalled view in a ‘specially built ringside suite’. Two of the six ticket holders will get a unique experience, sitting elevated above the rest of the crowd.
But get this, early renders show that the fans in this kind of private booth attached to the ring won’t necessarily be watching the action right in front of them straight-up. Oh no, they’ll be watching it splashed on a TV screen in front of them. While they’re in there, they’ll be provided with the ‘top-shelf’ food and drinks on tap as they lounge back on recliners.
Sorry, I mean, you can’t tell me I couldn’t just create this same feeling from the comfort of my own home, pulling up my comfy sofa in front of the telly and laying out a buffet?
But whatever, this special package does come with a whole load of other fancy perks like getting a set of autographed boxing gloves from the main men of the night. They’ll even have a personal escort throughout the event plus a two-night stay at the Loews Arlington Hotel.
Oh, and of course, the package comes with the standard stuff, like you know, access to every bit of the pre-fight stuff from press conferences to the weigh-ins.
The other four ticket-holders not getting to sit in the ‘Ringside Apron Seats’ will instead be in Row 1 ringside seats.

It was announced yesterday that this whopping MVP Owner’s Experience was purchased by Los Angeles-based law firm, TorkLaw.
Korosh Torkzadeh, from TorkLaw, told USA TODAY Sports: “Life and sport often reflect each other in their unpredictability. At TorkLaw, as we spend our days fighting for our clients both inside and outside the courtroom, we see in boxing the same determination required to face life’s toughest battles.
“Our involvement in this event is more than just support for sport — it’s a celebration of the human spirit and the strength it takes to keep fighting, no matter the odds.”
Well, good for them.
Before they watch the big event on fight night, they’ll also get access to a Private VIP Green Room with an open bar and all-inclusive menu.
The undercard will begin at 8pm eastern time (ET) on Friday, which is 1am GMT on Saturday for UK viewers.

Tonight’s the big night. The night two ‘legends’ take to the ring for the big fight that honestly feels like has been going on for decades at this point.
With a whole load of rules and fancy ticket packages being sold, the Jake Paul v Mike Tyson event this Friday night – well, the early hours of Saturday morning for us UK lot – is getting plenty of attention.
But fans just can’t get their heads around one of the official fight rules for the big boxing bout that will have a huge impact on the contest.
One of the rules for the Netflix event is that instead of the pair wearing the standard 10-ounce gloves worn for a heavyweight fight, they will be wearing 14-ounce gloves.
Basically, the heavier the glove is, then the more padding and the more shock absorbed by the glove – rather than the first and point of contact on the opposition fighter.
And people simply can’t understand why this would be put in place.
They finally go head-to-head tonight. (Brett Carlsen/Getty Images for Netflix © 2024)
Plenty pointed out how this rule could benefit Paul and limit Tyson as one wrote: “Something that’s being overlooked in the upcoming Tyson and Paul fight is the 14oz gloves they’ll be using. I’m no boxer but larger gloves will limit Tyson’s power and give Paul a larger surface area to block with.
“They’ll also give an edge to Paul from an endurance standpoint—heavier gloves means you’ll tire more quickly with each punch. Not a fan of the rules in this one. It’s set up for Paul to outlast a 58-year-old man when the fight goes the distance.”
Another made the observation that legendary boxer Tyson’s KOs typically came wearing 10-ounce gloves.
“The biggest factor may be that they’ll be using 14oz gloves… Tyson got all of his knockouts with the 10oz,” one wrote. “Or it may be that Tyson is 58 & Paul is 27…”

Some just simply aren’t happy about the weird rule choice altogether, writing: “14-ounce gloves? So they’re just basically having a pillow fight?”
With another slamming: “14 oz is heavier than amateurs. 10 or 12 oz would’ve been great.”
Others speculate the rule has been put in place to make sure the ‘fight goes the distance’ and are disappointed that a knockout looks ‘very unlikely’.
The undercard will begin at 8pm eastern time (ET) on Friday, which is 1am GMT on Saturday for UK viewers. The event will be streamed live on Netflix.

Tonight is finally fight night as Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are set to battle it out in the ring, eight months after first announcing their bout.
The original fight was called off after Tyson faced some health concerns, but tonight (15 November) it will go ahead at AT&T Stadium in Texas, US, the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
Things got heated at last night’s (14 November) weigh-in, with tensions boiling over and Tyson slapping Paul during the pair’s final face-off.
The first-of-its-kind Netflix event will be streamed live on the platform, as over 280 million people will be able to watch the fight for no extra fee.

But what time is the fight? Are you better off staying up with some energy drinks, or setting an alarm and having a power nap?
How to watch Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson
First of all, the fight will be available to watch on Netflix and all you need is a subscription, with no extra pay-per-view (PPV) charges, a rarity for boxing fans.
If you haven’t got a subscription, it’s worth noting that the standard plan with adverts will set you back £4.99 a month, with the ad-free plan sitting at £10.99, while a premium subscription will cost £17.99.
There is an alternative to Netflix though, to basically get it for free as part of a wider deal.
Sky is currently offering Netflix, Sky Stream, with Sky TV and Sky Full Fibre 300 Broadband, all for just £36 as part of its Black Friday deal. And given that its Full Fibre 300 broadband is usually £29 a month, for just £10 more you’ll also get access to Sky TV and Netflix for not much more.

When is the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson ring walk?
If you have no interest in the undercard, for which coverage starts at 1am (GMT) on Saturday, or 7pm (CT) in Texas, then here’s the time you should be awake at.
Paul and Tyson‘s ring walks are set to commence at about 10pm CT at the AT&T Stadium on Friday, and as the UK is six hours ahead, this means that we can expect to see the headline fighters emerge at 4am GMT on Saturday (16 November).
You’ll probably want to set your alarms for 10/15 minutes before this if you choose to sleep to ensure you’re wide awake before watching one of the most highly anticipated boxing events of the year.
For those of you who are choosing to brave it and pull an all-nighter, I salute you, but be prepared for anything, as it should be noted that this isn’t a time set in stone. It could be slightly earlier or even later, depending on how the undercard fights pan out.
There are seven fights happening prior to Paul vs Tyson, with Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano fighting in the co-main event for the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson rules explained
The fight has been sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, meaning the result will go on each boxer’s record.
It isn’t a normal bout, though, with the rules different to a standard heavyweight fight.
Firstly, the gloves will be heavier at 14 ounces instead of 10. This means the punches will not land as hard due to the extra padding, as well as protecting each boxer’s hands more than at 10-ounce gloves.
The rounds will also be two minutes each, instead of the usual three. And there will be eight rounds of boxing, not 12.
Some have questioned if this makes it a true match, while others have said as long as it is sanctioned, it is legitimate.

The anticipation for the huge Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson boxing event has just gone up to another level after The Baddest Man on the Planet slapped the YouTuber during their final face-to-face. Yet it seems there was a reason behind the incident.
Paul, 27, and Tyson, 58, will enter the ring at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, at 10pm local time on Friday (15 November), which equates to around 4am GMT on Saturday (16 November) for viewers tuning in to the Netflix event from the United Kingdom.
And after a rather amicable and respectful build up, the two finally came to blows in the final face-off at the weigh-in on Thursday, with Tyson slapping Paul on the left hand side of his face.
Paul took the hit in his stride before issuing a rather bleak warning to Iron Mike when interviewed by combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani.
Screaming in to the microphone, Paul reiterated his promise that Tyson was ‘getting knocked the f**k out’.
1-0 to Tyson (Netflix)
But he went one step further than that, adding: “It’s personal now, it’s personal now. He must die.”
The reason for the slap, though, seemed to go unnoticed at the time.
As the two boxers squared up for the final face off after weighing in at almost identical weights for Paul’s first ever heavyweight match.
Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) is Paul’s very own boxing company that has worked with Netflix to get the bout over the line after it was initially cancelled due to a serious health issue for Tyson, with the former world champion left thinking he was going to die.
Sharing a video to X (Twitter), MVP posted a video of the moment the two came face-to-face and in it, it shows Paul coming just centimetres from Tyson’s face.
But looking down, and you can see Paul clearly standing on Iron Mike’s foot, with the YouTuber wearing shoes while Tyson only has socks on. A nasty experience, we’ve all been there.

Tyson clearly takes issue with being accidentally stood on, slapping Paul before pointing down to the floor, indicating Paul standing on the toes on his right foot.
Even MVP, Paul’s company, seemingly questions if their man was to blame, writing: “The reason behind the slap… was this Jake’s fault?”
“That definitely caused it. Mike even pointed down,” one fan wrote on X.
Another said: “Ah, there it is. Jake was the aggressor the whole time.”
And a third wrote: “At 58, Mike is still faster than Jake, who started it and should be prepared. Not a good sign for Jake.”
More than 70,000 spectators will be at the AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, for the big fight. One fan even spent £2,000,000 to sit ringside, with it granting you special perks.
How to watch Paul vs. Tyson if you don’t have Netflix
If you don’t already have Netflix, there is a workaround to essentially get it for free as part of a package deal. At the moment Sky is offering Sky Stream, with Sky TV, Sky Full Fibre 300 Broadband and Netflix, all for just £36 as part of its Black Friday sale. And given that their Full Fibre 300 broadband is usually £29 a month, for just £10 more you’ll also get access to Sky TV and Netflix for not much more.
