Angelina Jolie‘s one-time New York City apartment has a very special new tenant.
In an interview with The New York Times, the Academy award-winner, 49, revealed she no longer occupies the big city apartment she bought in her 20s. Instead, it’s now “inhabited” by one of her sons.
“The other day I said I was going to pop by, and he was like can you just give me a day to clean?” the Maria star recalled in a relatable mom moment.
“I thought, I appreciate that, you should clean up for your mother,” she said, before adding, “But also, how bad is it?”

The article did not specify which of her sons lives there, but did say all of Jolie’s children reap the benefits.
The home is now a “crash pad” for his five siblings, she says. Jolie shares six kids with ex-husband Brad Pitt: Maddox, 23; Pax, 21; Zahara, 20; Shiloh, 18; Knox, 16 and Vivienne also 16.
While her son is staying in the Big Apple, Jolie is living on the West Coast in Los Angeles— at least until her twins are 18. The Maleficent star told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2024 that she’s in the city “because I have to be here from a divorce.”
“But as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she said of Knox and Vivienne. Afterward, “I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia.”
“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety,” Jolie said. “I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”
Jolie’s former apartment is not her only piece of New York real estate getting attention. The Times interview went into detail about the actress’ plans to cultivate an art community at Atelier Jolie, her downtown creative space and gallery.
The building is the former home and studio of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The actress bought the property in 2023 with plans to house her sustainable clothing brand.
It’s “a privilege to be in this space. We will do our best to respect and honor its artist legacy with community and creativity. Hope to see you there,” the Atelier Jolie Instagram account wrote at the time.
