Kohl’s Is Closing 27 Stores This Saturday: Is The Location Near You Affected?

Kohl’s announced it will close 27 stores across 15 different states this weekend.

The department store filed for bankruptcy in January. It issued a press release at the time announcing the store closures by April 2025 and thanking its workers. Kohl’s currently operates 1,150 locations nationwide, the majority of which will remain open until further notice.

The closures come amid plummeting sales revenue. Overall sales dropped by 7.2% in the final quarter of 2024, which ultimately led to the decision to shutter 27 stores, USA Today reports. Profits also dropped by 65.6% from 2023 to 2024, the outlet added.

In addition to the closures, several Kohl’s locations will also end their in-store Amazon return program. The program was first introduced in 2019. As a result, Kohl’s is cutting 10% of its workforce across the 27 impacted locations.

Its San Bernardino E-commerce Distribution Center will also close when its lease ends in May 2025.
