  • On Wednesday, March 26, Linda Hogan claimed her family is the “worst mess,” leading to a war of words with daughter Brooke Hogan
  • Brooke claimed that she had “no contact” with her parents due to being “EXTREMELY verbally and mentally abused since childhood”
  • Linda responded with her own claims that her daughter was “a narcissist just like her dad” and denied the abuse allegations

The war of words between Brooke Hogan and her mother Linda Hogan is continuing to escalate.

After Linda made an emotional video claiming their family is the “worst mess” on Wednesday, March 26, her daughter Brooke responded by sharing a detailed post on Instagram about her fractured relationship with Linda and her dad Hulk Hogan.

Noting that she has decided to have “no contact” with each of her parents for “completely separate reasons,” Brooke said, “This decision was made based purely on how they have each dealt with me directly my entire life.”

“I have been EXTREMELY verbally and mentally abused since childhood,” the former reality star alleged. “Sadly, it would frequently turn physical. And sometimes it’s not by the person you would assume, abuse comes in all shapes and sizes.”

Without naming a specific parent, Brooke noted, “Up until adulthood, I’ve received berating and vile text messages, verbal, public reamings with unbelievably hurtful words said to me that cannot be forgotten.”

In a seemingly pointed comment calling out former WWE wrestler Hulk’s racist rant regarding Brooke’s love life, Brooke added: “I’ve been ASKED to defend poor behavior to the public and have done so out of love. Only to find I was misinformed, manipulated, and lied to.”

In 2015, audio was released of Hulk making the offensive comments. At the time he apologized in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, saying, “Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it.”

At the time, Brooke stood by her father.

Brooke followed her initial statement by claiming that she has seen “others benefit financially off my suffering and embarrassment caused by their selfish behavior,” but insisted she “absolutely” still loved her parents.

However, the word of words didn’t end there. On March 28, Linda defended herself in a lengthy Facebook post, claiming in part, “Brooke is a narcissist just like her dad ..going out .. spewing lies to everyone and I’m supposed to defend my truth against that.”

“I think I spanked Brooke once yeah I called her a couple of names, by no means ever treated her the way she’s painting it,” she continued. “They had cell phones. She could’ve posted horrible things about me back when all of this was supposedly happening, but nothing, she didn’t because nothing was happening.”

She alleged that Brooke was once “so drunk she broke my collarbone and cut my lip and insisted everyone take her to the hospital because she was poisoned and she wasn’t.”

“She was just drunk… there’s many stories like that. I’m not gonna go on, but I’m not gonna defend myself against these ridiculous allegations,” she claimed. “I’ll do that in court if she keeps it up.”

Brooke then fought back against her mother’s claims in her own statement on Instagram, writing in part on March 28, “My post did not directly accuse anyone of the behaviors mentioned. So if she’s triggered by something, I think that speaks volumes. She is however making a serious accusation against me directly that has zero validity. And THAT I take seriously.”

“I have plenty of people who know the truth, and I know the truth, so I’m not afraid,” she added.

The reality star further alleged that Linda was lying about having not spoken to her in “a number of years,” writing alongside a snapshot of the family: “I have a picture with her and my husband together on a day we did lunch together.”

Reps for Linda and Hulk did not return PEOPLE’s requests for comment.

The Hogan family, which includes Brooke, Linda, Hulk and Brooke’s brother Nick Hogan, rose to fame together on their VH1 reality series, Hogan Knows Best. The series aired for four seasons from 2005 to 2007.

The tension in the family was brought back into the spotlight after Linda shared an emotional video to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, March 26. “It’s been 15, however long years since I left Hulk Hogan, and my family is the worst mess,” a tearful Linda said in the clip.

The couple was married from 1983 to July 2009, when their divorce was finalized.

“Brooke doesn’t talk to us. She had twins, she got married [and] she didn’t tell us,” Linda said of her daughter.

Linda alleged that her daughter stopped talking to her when Brooke got into a fight with her father around eight years ago. “I don’t know how that reflected onto me but she cut me out too,” she said.

Linda also confirmed that she still has a relationship with her son Nick, 34, adding, “He’s still such a good boy.”
