PEOPLE got an exclusive first look at the trailer for ‘Long Way Home,’ which follows McGregor and Boorman as they traverse Europe on vintage motorbikes
Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman are globe trotting together once again — and this time, they’re taking the long way home!
In a PEOPLE exclusive first look at the trailer (above) for AppleTV+’s Long Way Home (streaming May 9), the Star Wars actor reunites with his longtime pal, British TV presenter Boorman, to road trip across Europe together in a span of nine weeks.
The goal is to get from McGregor’s native Scotland to Boorman’s home in England, but they make a few pit stops (in 17 countries!) along the way.
“My name is Ewan McGregor, and for the last 20 years, my best friend Charley Boorman and I have traveled to some of the farthest corners of the world,” the actor says in the clip. “Yet we’ve never properly explored the countries on our own doorstep. So this time, Europe is our playground.”

In the ten-episode journey, the two friends will be making the trek on “vintage, temperamental, fifty-year-old bikes,” Boorman explains.
Together, they’ll travel up through the “vast Nordic countries” and into the Arctic Circle where it’s “bloody freezing,” followed by a trip down to the Baltics before “winding our way through the Alps and across France.”

They also encounter a few mishaps along the way, from McGregor getting a “splinter in my bum” to having “a little crash” on his bike.
“I just love them to death,” he says of the antique vehicles, before thinking twice and adding, “I shouldn’t say that. Motorbikes are dangerous enough as it is. You know what I mean?”

The pair will also immerse themselves in the cultures of each country they visit by connecting with locals and exploring unique activities.
“When you explore the world, it makes you feel so connected to the people and to the culture,” says McGregor. “These unique experiences will stay with you forever.”

Both McGregor and Boorman are executive producers of Long Way Home. It is the fourth installment of their motorcycle adventure series that has taken them to stunning destinations over the last two decades.
The third season, Long Way Up, debuted on Apple TV+ in 2020 and saw the pair motorbiking on their electric Harley-Davidsons across South and Central America. Their other adventures, Long Way Round (2004) and Long Way Down (2007), are both available to watch on Apple TV+.
