David Bowie may be gone — but Iman’s love for him lives on.

The actress and model, 69, shared a sentimental post on what would have been her 33rd wedding anniversary to the English singer-songwriter, who died at the age of 69 in 2016 as a result of liver cancer.

In an Instagram post, Iman shared a visual with the words, “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.” She captioned the photo with “#BowieForever” and “#ImanDaily.”

The pair met and fell in love after getting set up on a blind date in 1990. Just two years later, the “Heroes” singer proposed to the model on the banks of the River Seine. They tied the knot on April, 24, 1992, in a private ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland, and held a larger ceremony a few months later. In August 2000, they welcomed daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones.

Despite the music star’s death, Iman has kept their love alive with sentimental tributes over the years to her late husband, and has celebrated him as if he were still alive today.

I still feel married,” Iman previously told PEOPLE in November 2021. “Someone a few years ago referred to David as my late husband, and I said, ‘No, he’s not my late husband. He’s my husband.’ Through my memory, my love lives.”

She reiterated this last year in an interview with InStyle, saying that she often corrects people who call Bowie her “late husband,” and explained that it is because “he’s ever-present with me.”

“It’s because he has left an impact in my life,” Iman shared. “He was the perfect person for me and I’m happy that I was able to experience that in my lifetime. And I wish for everybody to have that one time in their life.”

In a 2022 interview with Hoda Kotb for SiriusXM Today Show Radio, Iman said she thinks of Bowie “every day and every minute.”

“I have a necklace I’m wearing under here that has his name on it, [a] designer who is a friend of ours called Hedi Slimane sent me this and I’ve worn it since that first week after David passed away,” she shared. “Yeah, I think of him all the time.”

“There are days that are harder than others, but the memories are not all sad of why the person isn’t here,” Iman reflected in a 2021 interview with PEOPLE. “The memories are now of how great it was.”
