Cyndi Lauper, Chubby Checker, OutKast and More Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2025

The induction ceremony will take place in November at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles

The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees are here.

On Sunday, April 27, during American IdolRyan Seacrest announced that seven music trailblazers, icons, and genre-defying legends will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year.

Bad Company, Chubby Checker, the late Joe Cocker, Cyndi LauperOutkast, Soundgarden and the White Stripes have been selected by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation as the class of 2025 for the performer category.

Bad Company, Chubby Checker, and OutKast were nominated for the first time this year, making their inclusions even more exciting.

The major announcement was made during the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame episode of American Idol, where 14 contestants performed songs made famous by Rock Hall inductees, and audience members voted for the top 12.

Artists Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will receive the Musical Influence Award, dedicated to “artists whose music and performance style have directly influenced, inspired, and evolved rock & roll and music impacting culture,” per a press release.

Additionally, the Musical Excellence Award will go to Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins and Carol Kaye, given to “artists, musicians, songwriters and producers whose originality and influence have had a dramatic impact on music.”

Finally, the Ahmet Ertegun Award recipient is Lenny Waronker, who celebrates “non-performing industry professionals who have had a major influence on the creative development and growth of rock & roll and music that has impacted culture.”

“Each of these inductees created their own sound and attitude that had a profound impact on culture and helped to change the course of Rock & Roll forever,” Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, John Sykes, said in a statement.

“Their music gave a voice to generations and influenced countless artists that followed in their footsteps.”

In order to be eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, artists must have released their first commercial music 25 years prior.

The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Billy Idol and Joy Division/New Order, Maná, Oasis and Phish were also among the nominees for this year’s slate of inductees.

2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction will air live on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Fans will be able to stream it live on Disney+. A special about the 2025 inductees will air on ABC at a later date and on Hulu the next day.
