As the pop star turns 35 on Dec. 13, 2024, look back at how she’s marked another year around the sun
Taylor Swift has this thing where she gets older.
The singer-songwriter, who turns 35 on Dec. 13, 2024, has had birthday celebrations of all sizes over the years, from quiet days out with her significant other to blowout parties in Nashville and New York City. And when she isn’t partying on her special day, she keeps her fans on their toes by dropping new music or major announcements.
See the lights and see the party of Swift’s past birthdays as she celebrates her 35th trip around the sun.

Her 34th birthday was as grand as her massive 2024. Swift hosted a star-studded party in New York City attended by her friends Blake Lively, Jack Antonoff, Sabrina Carpenter, Gracie Abrams, the Haim sisters, Zoë Kravitz and more.
“Can’t believe this year… actually… happened? Thank you for all your beautiful birthday wishes yesterday,” wrote Swift under the carousel of birthday photos.

She spent her 33rd birthday “in the studio of course” with close friend and longtime producer Antonoff — presumably working on her 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department.
“Wouldn’t have it any other way,” she captioned the photo, which included her holding up three fingers on each hand (presumably for 33, but there was much speculation) on Instagram.

Referencing her Red hit “22,” she captioned her 32nd birthday post: “*don’t say it, don’t say it OKAY I’m saying it:* I’M FEELIN 32.” She danced the night away with Alana Haim, whose birthday is two days after hers.

On her 31st birthday, Swift was the one giving a gift to her fans: her ninth studio album Evermore.
“Ever since I was 13, I’ve been excited about turning 31 because it’s my lucky number backwards, which is why I wanted to surprise you with this now,” she explained on Instagram. “You’ve all been so caring, supportive and thoughtful on my birthdays and so this time I thought I would give you something!”

On her 30th birthday, she performed at Jingle Ball 2019 and threw “the most aggressive holiday party known to womankind” with Antoni Porowski, Gigi Hadid, Martha Hunt, Jonathan Van Ness and more celebrity pals.
“I just.. seriously feel so lucky for you all and will spend forever trying to find ways to say thank you. *cries in Christmas tree*,” Swift penned on the Instagram post.

Swift had a surprise in store for fans on her 29th birthday: the trailer of the Reputation Stadium Tour concert film, which was released later that year on New Year’s Eve.

After performing at the Jingle Ball in London on Dec. 10, she commemorated the concert by posting a wide shot of the stage and crowd on Instagram.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better year, all thanks to you,” she wrote. “Can’t wait to see what 28 will be like. See you on tour 😄.”

Following her highly publicized feud with Kanye West and his then-wife Kim Kardashian, Swift took an extended break from the spotlight in 2016, revealing in her 2020 documentary Miss Americana that “nobody physically saw me for a year.” She wouldn’t return to the public eye until releasing her single “Look What You Made Me Do” in August 2017.
Although Swift didn’t post about turning 27, her friends Hadid, Kloss, Hunt and even Kevin Costner wished her a happy birthday.

In 2015, Us Weekly reported that Swift and then-boyfriend Calvin Harris attended a Christmas and birthday party at Jimmy Iovine’s Malibu, California, home for her 26th.

Swift’s 25th birthday party in New York City was filled to the brim with A-listers including Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Sam Smith and Karlie Kloss.
“So this is being 25 … #WHAT #bestbirthdayEVER,” the pop star captioned the group photo.
24
In a since-deleted Instagram photo, Swift revealed she rang in her 24th birthday with Lorde and friends while on tour in Australia.
“My 24th birthday was a Melbourne garden party,” she captioned the post. “The best birthday I’ve ever had.”

In photos obtained by E! News, Swift spent her 23rd birthday in England, strolling around with then-boyfriend Harry Styles.

At the age immortalized in her song “22,” Swift told Glamour that her most recent birthday was her “favorite yet.” She revealed that she held a “crazy” and “wild” party at her Nashville apartment with friends in the city.
“Everybody was dancing, the music was so loud, we got noise complaints,” she recalled. “It was a real party.”
21
On the morning of her 21st birthday, Swift visited a Nashville radio show with friend Julianne Hough. According to PEOPLE, she later had a party in her family’s Hendersonville, Tennessee, home with her loved ones, crew and band.
She famously alluded to a less-than-perfect 21st birthday party in her song “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” writing about a boyfriend who skipped out on the festivities and a father who observed her disappointment.
“But then he watched me watch the front door all night, willin’ you to come/And he said, ‘It’s supposed to be fun turning twenty-one,’ ” she sang in the 2021 hit.

PEOPLE reported in 2009 that Swift marked her 20th birthday with a $250,000 donation to schools around the country that she’s attended and worked with in her career.
“Something I wanted to do at the end of this amazing year and especially on my birthday was give back to something I really believe in, which is education,” she said at the time.
