Thanks to the quick reflexes of Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton, a young boy was saved from potential injury after he fell from the stands during their game against the Carolina Panthers.

As the Chiefs headed out of the stadium on Sunday, Nov. 24 after securing a win over the Panthers with a score of 30-27, a young Chiefs fan attempted to lean over the railing and greet the players. But as he leaned, the fan suddenly flipped over the railing and cratered down head-first, as Wharton, 26, swooped in and caught him.

A security guard can then be heard telling all the fans to back up and return to their seats.

The moment quickly circulated online, with football fans praising Wharton’s heroic efforts to step in and thwart an incident that could have easily resulted in a hospital visit for the young boy.

Wharton signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2020, and has since won two Super Bowls with the team, in 2023 and 2024.

The Nov. 24 game marked the Chiefs’ 10th win of the season — with just one loss so far — and the players have been celebrating on social media.

Tight end Travis Kelce shared a post on Instagram to celebrate the team’s win on Sunday. “Double digit dubs!!,” he captioned the gallery, which includes pictures of his game-day outfit and shots from on the field.

The team only has one loss so far this season, which was the Nov. 17 game against the Buffalo Bills when the Chiefs lost 21-30. Their 10-1 record matches the Detroit Lions for the best in the NFL.
