The Feb. 21 episode will feature multiple birthday surprises for Barrymore, including special video birthday messages from Steven Spielberg, Adam Sandler and Cameron Diaz
Happy Birthday, Drew Barrymore!
In PEOPLE’s exclusive look at her milestone 50th birthday episode on The Drew Barrymore Show, Flour Shop founder and baker Amirah Kassem makes sure Barrymore’s birthday is extra sweet with custom cakes designed by her daughters, Olive and Frankie.
“I wanted to bring in two of the very best cake designers ever, and your girls actually designed these themselves!” Kassem reveals as Barrymore, who turns 50 on Feb. 22, begins to get emotional. “So inside there’s letters from the girls.”
Both baked confections are colorfully decorated. One designed by Frankie, features multi-colored flowers piped in front of a white and pink stripped buttercream base. The other, designed by Olive, is decked out in complete rainbow with a stick-figure portrait of her spending a day out with her mom.

Through tears and determination, the actress grabs Frankie’s letter first and struggles to read it aloud.
“Dearest mommy, happy birthday,” she begins. “Can you believe it? 50 years of being the most fabulous, kindest person on earth, and 12 years of being the most caring, loving mom, I love you so much. Best birthday wishes, Frankie.”
The sweet message brings heavy but happy emotions to Barrymore, and she eagerly snatches Olive’s letter to read in front of the audience.
“Dear mother,” she reads. “Not in my 12 years of living life have I found a mother as wonderful as you The search goes on.”

When they cut open the cakes, they reveal more surprises. Kassem reveals that Frankie and Olive also designed their cakes’ interior and included a special message for her to find.
The episode will feature multiple birthday surprises for the guest of honor, including special birthday messages from Steven Spielberg, Adam Sandler and Cameron Diaz. The Drew Barrymore Show‘s iconic “Drew’s News” segment will also be co-hosted by Gayle King and Jane Pauley.
Barrymore will also be surprised with her very own Pantone color, “Drew Barrymore yellow,” which features warm and soft hues of golden yellow.
