Selena Gomez‘s Only Murders in the Building costars Steve Martin and Martin Short will be sure to leave an impression during her nuptials to Benny Blanco.
The “Sunset Blvd.” singer, 32, was asked on the Thursday, March 27 episode of the Drew Barrymore Show about whether she was ever planning to have Martin, 79, and Short, 75, “officiate” her wedding to the music producer.
“Oh my gosh! I hadn’t even thought about that,” Gomez admitted.
However, she told host Drew Barrymore that at least one of them had another important role to play during the celebration. She revealed that “Marty is due to give a speech,” adding, “I told him he must.”

“Steve will probably pull out his banjo,” she continued, referring to the Father of the Bride star’s musical talents. “But I feel like Marty would have an epic speech.”
Gomez previously shared the actors’ reaction to her engagement to Blanco, 37, on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. She revealed that Martin sent over a a sweet message to her after the news of her engagement broke.
“Steve made sure he sent my assistant an email so my assistant could tell me congratulations,” she recalled. “That’s how he communicates. He always tries to be polite. And it’s very kind, but it’s okay to send a little text.”

Host Jimmy Kimmel also played a viral clip of Short gushing over her new engagement ring at the 2025 Golden Globes, and asked “Is he appraising it? What exactly is he doing there?”
“He’s twisting it. Taking it off. I wasn’t sure what he was doing; that’s why I look confused,” she recalled, before adding with a laugh. “He just wanted to know what was going on. I don’t think he cared. Maybe a little … ”

The late-night host then asked whether Gomez would consider giving her two costars and friends “jobs” in her upcoming wedding to Blanco, including as “ringbearers” — especially given Short’s fascination with her engagement ring.
She shared that she wouldn’t be opposed to the idea at the time, saying, “That would be adorable.”
Gomez revealed her engagement to Blanco in December 2024 via an Instagram carousel showing off her new engagement ring and a pic of her and Blanco celebrating their engagement with laughs and a hug. “forever begins now..,” she captioned the post.
