Aimee Lou Wood is shutting down rumors after she was seen crying in public.
On Tuesday, April 15, the 31-year-old The White Lotus opened up on her Instagram Stories after photos surfaced online of her visibly upset and crying.
In the images, Wood was seen on a walk in South London with House of the Dragon actor Ralph Davis, who hugs the British actress as she appears to become emotional. Wood and Davis recently collaborated on the co-writing the upcoming BBC series Film Club.
On Tuesday, Wood reposted a message from a fan who called the images “devastating,” writing that Wood had been “reduced to tears because of people tearing into her appearance.” The fan added, “Shame on SNL for their cruelty.”

However, though Wood clearly appreciated the sentiment, she did share that the photos of her crying weren’t related to the recent White Lotus-themed Saturday Night Live skit that she previously called out.

“Thank you so much. Just to say, I actually wasn’t crying about anything that the papers made out I was crying about,” she said with a laughing/crying emoji. “Something completely unrelated.”

The sketch in question, titled “White Potus,” took place during the Saturday, April 12 show and featured SNL cast member Sarah Sherman playing Wood’s The White Lotus character, Chelsea. The comedy show featured Sherman wearing enlarged teeth and speaking with an exaggerated accent.
Wood later called criticized the skit on her Instagram Stories, writing on Sunday, April 13, “I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny. Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago.”

“Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about — but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?” she added.
