Paul McCartney is reflecting on quiet moments with his wife, Nancy Shevell.

On the Beatle’s website, McCartney, 82, answered the question from a Facebook user named Joan about how he and Shevell, 65, spend their days off at home for a “You Gave Me the Answer” blog post.

“I’m curious, when it’s just you and Nancy at home together with a break from all your responsibilities and commitments, what do you do together to relax?” Joan wrote. “What are your shared interests?”

McCartney revealed that his and Shevell’s downtime is actually very relatable. “We chat and catch up with each other. We eat lunch or dinner. Well, any meal really, as we love cooking,” he said. “Sometimes we will watch something on TV together, and I always read before bed, usually a biography, while Nancy finishes watching a series.”

“We’re pretty much like any other normal couple!” he added. McCartney and Shevell met in the summer of 2007 when staying at their respective Hamptons homes. A source told PEOPLE in 2009 that they “are clearly well-suited, well-matched.” They got engaged in 2011 and married that year.

In 2023, McCartney revealed how he likes to “overdo” Valentine’s Day for Shevell. “There’s not just one card, there are cards hidden around the room, and sometimes things even spill into the next day — it’s completely silly,” he said in a post shared to his website.

“If there’s an excuse to have some fun, I overdo it! At Christmas, I go crazy with the tree lights and fairy lights — totally overdo it.”

He also gave insight into what kind of husband he likes to be for Shevell. “I try to be helpful as a husband too. If there’s a problem, I like to be the guy that will lend some strength to it,” he said.

“I’m always very happy to be the person Nancy relies on, and to be her strength when she goes through tough times.”
