  • Rachael Geiger’s youngest daughter, 4-year-old Tillie, got upset late last year after an argument with her sister
  • To channel her energy, the tot sat down at the piano and put her feelings into song
  • Geiger posted a video of the moment to TikTok, where it quickly went viral

A little girl is going viral for the special way she chose to show her big feelings.

Rachael Geiger, on TikTok @rkbgeiger and Instagram @rkbgoods.ok, is a mom of three from Oklahoma who caught the moment her then 3-year-old, Tillie, reacted to an incident with her sisters. Her way of handling it? Getting on the piano and singing it out.

“The girls are little besties. Cecilia, the 10-year-old, likes to be mama. They call her fake mama, so when they yell through the house for mama and I answer, they go, ‘No, not you. Fake mama,’ ” Geiger tells PEOPLE.

“Then there’s Vivian, who is the middle one. Then Matilde, Tillie. She’s usually the one that gets in trouble for how she plays with her sisters because she’s just kind of like a Tasmanian devil. She’s just a live wire all the time.”

The video was the result of a calm family moment that took a turn.

“That morning, we were all laying in bed watching TikToks. Everybody comes up to my king-size bed and we all crawl in on a Saturday or Sunday morning and we’ll lay there for an hour watching and looking up books for them to listen to,” she explains.

“That morning, me and my husband and the two big girls were laying on the bed the expected way. Tillie’s head was at the foot of the bed, though. She was doing what every kid does, kicking everyone in our face and so after we had told her, you know four or five different times, ‘You have to stop or you have to get off of the bed,’ and she didn’t stop. So she got off of the bed and she just marched herself straight down and told us how she felt on the piano.”

The video shows Tillie playing a few keys on the piano as she sings, “It feels like … no one wants to be with me and no one wants to play with me.”

Geiger — who works for a non-profit that helps bring help, hope and healing to children impacted by a loved one’s addiction — says she’s happy to see that the emotionally intelligent conversations that Tillie is hearing at home and when she goes to work with mom make an impact.

“We kind of joke that she’s like a reincarnated 40-year-old woman. She has already gotten into identifying her feelings. She says things and we’re like, ‘How do you even have the concept for that?’ But then also two nights ago, she was singing, ‘Jalapenos are my favorite penos’ so there’s still some 4-year-old in there too.”

The mom of three jokes that her daughter is a big fan of “singing or orating all of her feelings.”

“She vocalizes all of her internal dialogue in song, whether it’s about jalapenos or how she thinks you’re feeling. She takes all of these little coping mechanisms that we talk about at my job while she’s snacking or coloring, and she’s picking up on it all and brings emotional intelligence to conversations now. Some kids can really take it and apply it like that.”

Since sharing the video in December, it’s amassed more than 1.5 million views. Geiger admits, “I thought the video was entertaining but I didn’t think it’d go viral. I opened it and saw it had 13,000 views and I was like ‘Oh boy.’ “

While the kids don’t fully grasp what those numbers mean, the older two have had teachers joke with them about going viral, Geiger says.

“It’s been this weird anomaly. That’s like happened in in secret, which is kind of entertaining, because she was an anomaly that happened in secret. We had three miscarriages in between the 8-year-old and her. It was the middle of the pandemic when we got pregnant with her. So we didn’t tell anybody and we weren’t seeing anybody. Then all of a sudden I had a premature baby who had a 30-day NICU stay.”

She adds, “That’s not the one that I expected to go viral, but I love that it did because that’s really a pretty good glimpse of who we are as a family.”

“I’m grateful for TikTok and that my sharing a little bit about a little interaction in my family,” she continues. “The number of people saying, ‘This is exactly how I felt as a kid,’ and the cross section of, ‘Get her an album deal immediately,’ it’s been great.”
