A beauty queen in Turkey has died after falling from a bridge at age 27, per local news reports.
On Tuesday, April 1, Güler Erdoğan — a former Miss Europe Kosovo titleholder — fell off an overpass onto a road in the Turkish city of Giresun after reaching a police checkpoint in her car following an evening out, per CNN Türk.
Local outlets Hurriyet, CNN Türk and NTV claimed that Erdoğan had been drunk at the time, stating that she’d allegedly abandoned her car before fleeing from police on foot.

Erdoğan had been in the city with her family for the Ramadan holiday, CNN Türk noted, adding that authorities had been dispatched to the scene of the accident, but the model was sadly pronounced deceased.

Per Erdoğan’s Instagram profile — which has 56,000 followers — she was a model, athlete and loved to travel.

Following her death, all her posts were removed from the page and replaced with one message, which read, “Do not believe the baseless news and information that has been released regarding the death of our sister, friend, Guler Erdogan.”
“Our sister lost her life in a tragic accident. We were with her family at the time of the incident,” the message, translated from the original Turkish, added.
